Hi folks,

We have another handful of Punch Brothers dates in early June to announce - namely, shows in Austin, Dallas, and Kansas City! A limited supply of pre-sale tickets will go on sale tomorrow, February 22 at 10am CT at PunchBrothers.com with the public on-sale following this Friday. In case you missed it last time, a Nashville date at the Ryman was added on June 24 and some tickets are still available here.

Chris Thile, Yo-Yo Ma, and Edgar Meyer will be releasing a collection of Bach works on April 7 on Nonesuch Records. You can watch them perform the first movement of Trio Sonata No. 6 in G Major, BWV 530 which you'll receive as an instant download when you pre-order the album (CD + vinyl | iTunes).

The Bach trio is touring in April and May in support of the album and limited tickets are still available for select dates. Later in May, Chris and Béla Fleck have a short duo tour which just recently added shows in Charleston, SC and Charlotte, NC. You can find details and ticket links on the tour page.

Critter and Julian Lage's duo tour is underway and will keep them out on the road until the end of April so if you're in the US, there's a very good chance they're coming your way.  This Friday marks the release of their new album, Mount Royal, and you can pre-order CD, vinyl, and tee bundles on their Bandcamp or get a digital copy on iTunes and Amazon. In the meantime, head over to American Songwriter to check out their new song "Greener Grass."

Noam's new solo album, Universal Favorite, comes out next month and he's just shared a new track, "Sugar Maple." For a preview of his solo shows (the album release tour kicks off March 2), here's Noam performing "Waveland" on A Prairie Home Companion. Visit NoamPikelny.com for all your pre-order options and to peruse his tour dates.

Paul's trio, Haas Kowert Tice, has just announced a batch of Southeast dates in May following a performance at Bluegrass Underground with Town Mountain in McMinnville, TN on May 6.

The Bluegrass Situation spoke with Gabe about his expanding role as a producer within Punch Brothers and on other projects, including Noam and Critter's upcoming albums. You can read the interview here.

Hi folks,

Winter may be fully upon us now but it's never too early to look ahead towards summer when the boys will make their return to a pair of fantastic (and warm) festivals this June - Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Colorado and ROMP in Kentucky. There will be a few other summer plans to share but in the meantime, there's plenty of new music coming in these colder months.

Noam recently announced his new solo album, Universal Favorite (coming March 3) along with an expansive album release tour. The record, outside of the sage production of Gabe, is a true solo effort with Noam on banjo, vocals(!), flat-top guitar, telecaster, and some other instruments with no band or accompaniment. You can preview the first two tracks now: "Waveland" and "Folk Bloodbath." CD, vinyl, and a new t-shirt designed by Matt Diffee are available to pre-order from Noam's shop or you can pre-order digitally on iTunes and Amazon.

Critter and Julian Lage also just announced their second album, Mount Royal,  (also produced by Gabe Witcher!) which is set to be released on February 24. For those of you who are unfamiliar, Julian is a renowned jazz guitarist who has collaborated with a range of musicians - Nels Cline, Gary Burton, and Jim Hall to name a few. According to The New Yorker, he belongs "in the highest category of improvising musicians, those who can enact thoughts and impulses as they receive them." Watch a performance of their new song, "Bone Collector," and pre-order the album now at LageEldridge.com. Their tour dates together kick off next month, leading into their "Release The Hounds" tour with Aoife O'Donovan throughout spring.

Thile and Brad Mehldau’s duo album is just a couple weeks from its release on January 27 and they've recently shared their performance of Elliott Smith’s “Independence Day.” Pre-order the album now and receive an instant download of the track along with “Scarlet Town.” You can get it on CD and vinyl from Chris's shop or Nonesuch Records or digitally on iTunes.

Thile has also added a duo set with Michael Daves at GroundUp Music Festival in Miami Beach, FL on February 12 and solo shows in Paris and Vienna to his upcoming European tour in March.

Paul's trio, Haas Kowert Tice continues their Station Inn residency in Nashville next month on February 8 and will have news on their second album soon. Keep an eye on their Facebook, Twitter, and mailing list for updates.

Hi folks,

It's still a bit quiet on the PB front proper for now, but the boys have certainly been very busy and we have some more updates to share.

Thile is putting out an album with Brad Mehldau, fittingly named Chris Thile & Brad Mehldau, due out January 27 on Nonesuch Records. You can pre-order now on double CD or vinyl through Chris's shop, the Nonesuch Store, or digitally via iTunes.

When you pre-order, you'll receive an instant download of their cover of Gillian Welch's "Scarlet Town." You can stream the song on Spotify and watch a video of Chris and Brad performing it live at Bowery Ballroom here.

If you haven't been keeping up with the new season of A Prairie Home Companion with Chris now at the helm, you can visit PrairieHome.org to replay previous episodes and get tickets for upcoming shows across the country. He sat in with Jon Batiste and Stay Human on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday night and you can watch them perform "My Oh My" here.

Following the Prairie Home season, Thile will head to Europe for a solo tour followed by a Bach trio tour with Yo-Yo Ma and Edgar Meyer across the US. You can find all the currently announced shows on the tour page.

--

Critter and Julian Lage have a massive set of dates throughout the US next year, many of which are co-bills with Aoife O'Donovan for their Release The Hounds tour. Aoife will play a set, Critter and Julian will play a set, then they'll all play a set together. Some shows are on sale now and the rest go on sale later today. Critter and Julian are also finalizing a new duo album (you can pick up their debut, Avalon, here). We'll have an update on that in a future email.

--

Paul's trio, Haas Kowert Tice, just recently wrapped up another tour and they're prepping for their own new album that's in the works. They have a residency at the Station Inn in Nashville over the coming months and you can sign up for their email list to keep up to date.

--

Noam has another batch of solo dates coming up in the new year to coincide with, you guessed it, his very first motivational book, "The Power Of Nodding." Oh, if only it were true. Good guess, though! There are more shows to be announced, along with details on a top-secret record, but for now you can pick up tickets to see him in Provo, UT, Hudson, NY, Cambridge, MA, Beaver Creek, CO, and Richmond, VA.

--

Gabe has been keeping busy producing, including Critter and Noam's records, and he recently performed with Willie Nelson on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Hi folks,

It's been a bit since we last wrote so it seemed like a good time to do a quick catch up on what everyone will be up to this summer.

Next week, we'll be performing at the Oregon Bach Festival in Eugene on Tuesday, July 5 and Noam has a solo show the next night in Portland at Mississippi Studios.

Following a trip back out to Lyons, CO for RockyGrass on July 31, we set off across the Pacific for a residency at the Blue Note in Tokyo from August 3-5. The special Japanese edition of The Phosphorescent Blues is set to be released on July 20 and can be pre-ordered here.

We then head to Australia for a quick tour with stops in Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney, and Melbourne from August 8-13.

On August 20, we'll return to Oregon for a very special benefit show at Penner Ash Wine Cellars in Newberg. In addition to a Punch Brothers set, the event includes complimentary wine and a meal prepared by chef Scott Dolich with all proceeds to benefit the Children's Cancer Association and their MyMusicRx program. You can get tickets here.

Thile's tour with Béla Fleck kicks off in just a few weeks in Omaha, NE on July 12. The tour then takes them to Fish Creek, WI, Interlochen, MI, Geneva, NY, Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival in Oak Hill, NY, and Portsmouth, NH before heading west to wrap things up in Oakland and Los Angeles, CA. Chris has also added a pair of solo shows this September in Chapel Hill, NC and Greenville, SC.

As a reminder, you can catch Critter and Julian Lage at Lime Kiln Theater in Lexington, VA on August 26 and in Big Fork, MT on August 28-September 4 teaching and performing at Crown Guitar Workshop & Festival. (You can also study guitar with Critter online at Sonic Junction)

Speaking of teaching, The Kennedy Center shared a live stream of our How to Play with Others workshop from American Acoustic this past weekend. If you missed it, you can now watch a full replay here.

Hi folks,

Our spring tour starts tomorrow night in Charleston, SC for a special show with Dave Rawlings Machine. We're excited to see you all over the coming weeks along the East Coast and Midwest (roughly). You can find all the specifics and ticket links on the tour page.

If you missed the announcement, Thile has curated a four day festival, American Acoustic, that will take place at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC this June 22-25. In addition to a Punch Brothers set, the festival features performances by Michael Daves, Gabriel Kahane, Julian Lage, Merrill Garbus of Tune-Yards, Béla Fleck, Edgar Meyer, and I'm With Her (Sara Watkins, Aoife O'Donovan, and Sarah Jarosz). Tickets are on sale now, visit here for details.

We've added a stop in Perth at the front end of our Australia run on August 8. Preceding that, tickets are on sale now for our three night residency at the Blue Note Tokyo, August 3-5. To commemorate the visit, a special edition of The Phosphorescent Blues will be released in Japan on July 20 including three songs from The Wireless EP. If you're in Japan, you can pre-order it now here.

Thile and Béla Fleck are teaming up for a duo tour this July - expect some new music they've been writing together, some older material (a mix of Chris's and Béla's catalogs plus a traditional song or two), and a fair amount of improvising. Surrounding their festival set at Grey Fox in Oak Hill, NY, they'll head to Omaha, NE, Interlochen, MI, Geneva, NY, and Oakland and Los Angeles, CA. There are a few more shows to announce, so keep an eye out for those.

Noam has added a third solo date this summer on June 14 in Carlsbad, CA at the Museum of Making Music. Tickets are also on sale now for his show in Portland, OR at Mississippi Studios on July 6.

Critter and Julian Lage will perform at the beautiful Lime Kiln Theater in Lexington, VA on August 26 before heading to Big Fork, MT to teach and play at the Crown Guitar Workshop & Festival (August 28-Setember 4). And as a reminder, if you're interested in studying guitar with Critter, you can do so at Sonic Junction anytime.
