American Acoustic

Hi folks,

We are thoroughly excited to announce that American Acoustic - Punch Brothers, I'm With Her (Sara Watkins, Sarah Jarosz, and Aoife O'Donovan), and Julian Lage - will be heading out on tour this summer!

American Acoustic had its beginnings as a weekend-long festival curated by Chris Thile at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC last June. The weekend culminated in a show including Punch Brothers and I’m With Her, with half the show devoted to extensive collaboration between all the musicians.

As Thile noted, “We started discussing how to make this tour happen as we were walking offstage. On one hand, there was that delightful sense of discovery and almost childish wonder that you hope for when working with musicians you admire in a new context, but on the other, the kind of artistic compatibility and ease of communication you usually only experience in longstanding collaborations. These shows will be designed to give us (and you!) the opportunity to explore more thoroughly the myriad possibilities we caught a glimpse of that night."

A limited ticket pre-sale for most of the American Acoustic dates will begin tomorrow, March 7, at 10am local time at PunchBrothers.com with the public on-sale following this Friday.

Noam's new solo album, Universal Favorite, just came out this past Friday and he's currently out on tour throughout the US. You can pick up a copy of the album here and visit noam.net/tour to get tickets to a show. Noam made a short film detailing his life story that offers some insight into the making of the album:

Critter and Julian Lage's new album, Mount Royal, was also released since we last wrote and their tour is continuing on strong for the next two months. This stretch includes their Release The Hounds tour dates with Aoife O'Donovan which will give a bit of a preview of some of the collaboration you'll see at American Acoustic. For another taste of Critter and Julian performing together, here's the duo's version of Eddie Vedder's "Sleeping By Myself," which you'll find on Mount Royal:

Thile's second season as host of A Prairie Home Companion will start this fall and in the meantime, they've added a pair of shows this May in St. Paul. But before all that, Chris will head off to Europe next week for a solo tour, followed by his Bach Trio dates in the US with Yo-Yo Ma and Edgar Meyer in support of their upcoming album. You can find these and more of his upcoming shows on the tour page.

Tickets are on sale now for Haas Kowert Tice's Southeast tour and they've added a pair of dates at the end of the run in Carrboro, NC and Vienna, VA.

Best,

Punch Brothers
